UN Secretary General Kofi Annan emphasizes in Chin
Mr. Kofi Annan, General Secretary of the United Nations, in the Morning of October 14th 2002 visited Zhejiang University where a grand ceremony was held conferring upon him the status of Honorary Doctorate Degree. Soon later Mr. Annan delivered a speech in the university emphasizing that the struggle against AIDS requires cooperation of all ranks of people in the society. Leaderships are needed to break up the dreariness and to abolish prejudice of this illness; the important turning point lies upon the awareness among the youngsters.

"I know AIDS is at present a challenging problem of deep concern in China today" said Mr. Annan. "An imminent effort must be exerted to prevent HIV/AIDS from spreading in a further scale.
